Dr. Farres Ahmed was born in Reno, NV at Washoe County Hospital. He grew up in Boulder, CO, and worked at the NASA-funded BioServe Space Technologies research lab as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado. Although he found space suits and microbes fascinating, they ultimately steered him into a career in medicine.

He completed medical school, a radiology residency, and an interventional radiology fellowship at the University of Colorado program rotating at the University of Colorado 

Hospital, Denver Veterans Affairs Hospital, Children’sHospital Colorado, and Denver Health Medical Center. He also completed a surgical internship at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver.

Dr. Ahmed has particular interests in interventional oncology and musculoskeletal minimally invasive procedures including pain management and spinal compression fracture treatment.

​

Dr. Ahmad has experience in treating cancer in many different ways including radio-embolization, chemo-embolization as well as percutaneous tumor ablation using microwave technologies that he helped develop.

​

Dr. Ahmed is excited to be back in Nevada and explore the Tahoe and Washoe Basins with his wife and daughter on skis, bikes, kayaks, and on foot.
