Dr. Gary Turner graduated with an MD from the Medical College of Virginia, followed by radiology residency training at Letterman Army Medical Center at the Presidio in San Francisco.  He completed additional two-year subspecialty fellowship training in diagnostic neuroradiology at the University of California at San Francisco, UCSF.  He is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, DABR, and holds the board’s certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology, CAQ.

Dr. Turner is a member of the American College of Radiology and is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and the American Society of Head and

Neck Radiology. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

As a recipient of the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship, Dr. Turner achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Medical Corps, serving as an instructor and Chief of Neuroradiology at Tripler Army Medical Center’s Radiology Residency Program in Honolulu Hawaii.

In addition to his general radiology practice, Dr. Turner’s interests lie in evaluating adult and pediatric patients with acquired and developmental disorders of the brain and spine by applying his expertise in advanced CT and MR imaging techniques including diffusion, perfusion, angiography, spectroscopy, and PETCT.  He is proficient in a variety of interventional radiology and pain management procedures including spinal and joint steroid injections, fracture augmentations (kyphoplasty), epidural blood patches, and image-guided biopsies.

Along with colleague Dr. Stephen Loos, he developed the first comprehensive Multiparametric MR Prostate Cancer Screening and MR-guided Prostate Biopsy Program in Northern Nevada for Tahoe Carson Radiology.

Dr. Turner is a proud member of Tahoe Carson Radiology but feels his greatest achievement is his marriage and being a father of three children.  He spends much of his free time enjoying the beautiful Tahoe Basin, exercising, playing golf, scuba diving, traveling, and enjoying finer foods.
